our good friend Chad Jubela break garlic seed in the greenhouse (above)
for planting (below).
Yes, every clove
gets planted by hand.
Below-First cultivation comes in March, wetness permitting! Green garlic harvest begins in April.

Pea shoots along the top, red oak leaf lettuce in middle, Forellenschluss lettuce on bottom.

couldn't find
a place to take a photo!
A
very special guest visits Blue Moon Farm- 11/5/06- NOAH ADAMS!
At our final Farmers'
Market for the year, a familiar voice walked into our booth!
It was National Public Radio's Noah Adams!!
We have been huge
fans of Noah for over 20 years, and spent many hours listening to him when
he was a host of All Things Considered, our favorite NPR news program.
He was passing through Lexington in search of new uses for old tobacco
barns, and had heard that we use ours for curing garlic. He asked
if he could come see it the following day, and of course we jumped at the
chance! So on Sunday he arrived at sundown, we did a quick interview
in the barn, and then spent a lovely evening having dinner and good conversation.
We were so honored to have him as our guest, and we felt as if we were
old friends. Between the Today
Show braid project and this visit, we really ended up our year with
a BANG!
